Adventure Comes to Downtown Apex This Fall
The first-ever “Downtown Apex Autumn Adventure” brings puzzling fun to Salem Street while supporting local public schools
The Downtown Apex Autumn Adventure combines the fun of escape room puzzles with the charm of Downtown Apex.
POST DATE: October 23, 2020
Apex, NC | This November, visitors to Downtown Apex can test their wits in a unique outdoor activity that combines the challenge of escape room puzzles with the charm of Downtown Apex. Registered participants will find clues posted at windows of participating stores along Salem Street, crack the codes (if they’re able!) and submit their answers online for a chance to win prize packs from local vendors. It all takes place online and outside, allowing for safe, socially distanced fun with friends and family.
The adventure is a collaborative effort by the Apex Public School Foundation (APSF), a local non-profit dedicated to supporting Wake County public schools in Apex, Whole Brain Escape, a locally owned and award winning escape room, and the Apex Downtown Business Association (ADBA). A $20 per team registration fee directly supports the APSF.
“This is a wonderful and unique opportunity for families and small groups to enjoy being Downtown again in a safe, comfortable way,” said Shane Reese, ADBA President. “And that they can support public schools in Apex at the same time—it’s a win for everyone involved.” Reese also believes the month long event will increase patronage to the Downtown shops that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Our Downtown vendors need support now more than ever. This could help bring them some much needed business.”
Registration is now open at helpapexschools.org/autumn and will remain open through November 30. Puzzles will be posted at storefronts 24/7 from November 1-30. Participants are encouraged to follow all federal, state, and local COVID-19 guidelines while visiting Downtown. Answers must be submitted online by December 1 (submission instructions will be provided upon registration) and winners will be notified by email or phone in mid-December.
The Apex Public School Foundation (APSF), founded in 2018, is an independent, nonprofit, volunteer organization that maintains a fund to enhance the educational experience for students at Apex-area schools within the Wake County school district.
Whole Brain Escape, a locally-grown business in the heart of Apex, NC, is owned by Heather and Rafael Chandler. The dynamic duo has devoted their careers to creating interactive entertainment, with over 35 years of combined experience in the video game industry. Their passion for games and puzzles has extended into the immersive and interactive experience that is Whole Brain Escape.
The Apex Downtown Business Association (ADBA) is a member-driven organization dedicated to working on behalf of Downtown Apex businesses and collaborating with the Town of Apex to benefit the community on initiatives like the Downtown Plan and Parking-to-Dining Project.
